For Thanksgiving we went up to Oklahoma City. On our way we drove through the Arbuckle Wilderness. As a child I remember hearing the ads for the park and I always wanted to go. It is on the way between Dallas and OKC so we finally decided it was time to see what it was all about. It was so much fun, both for the girls and for Chad and I. You drive through this park and have food for the animals and feed them out of your car. We weren't really sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. The animals were very trained to know that when the cars come through it is feeding time. They were not shy. At one point we had animals fighting over who got into the car window. It was a little frightening at times...but once the car moved the animals would back off. We saw all types of animals...zebras, camels, giraffe to name a few. I even got to feed a giraffe out of my hand. I thought that was the best part personally. The girls sat in our laps in the front seat and loved it. Boomer was in the back of the car and was a little anxious at first, but he calmed down after a bit. There was a wolf (locked up in a cage) and when we drove by he was very excited and knew there was a dog in the car.
As I said earlier, I think Chad and I liked it just as much as the girls. What a great way to break up a drive. There is an exotic animal park the next exit up...maybe next trip we will see what that park has to offer. I highly recommend feeding the animals at Arbuckle Wilderness...the animals are waiting for you.

I wish we had gone there when we were little. Did we every ask to go? Maybe we should have.
